Pomelo

Converts in place. Nothing is uploaded.

  • No account, no telemetry. Pomelo goes online only when you ask: installing an optional engine, or checking for updates.
  • No keylogging. The input helper is one short file. It sees the left mouse button, the pointer, and your trigger key while you drag.
  • Open source. AGPL-3.0-or-later, so you can read every line before you run it.

Out of the way until you need it.

  • Conversions run in parallel, each with its own cancel button.
  • Esc backs out. Nothing converts until you drop.
  • Trigger on Ctrl, Alt or Shift.
  • Lives in the tray. Starts with Windows if you want it to.

Windows says "Windows protected your PC"

New apps have no download history yet, so SmartScreen asks first. Compare the SHA-256 below with your download, then choose More info and Run anyway.

What are the optional engines?

Pomelo converts images, video, audio, archives, subtitles, EPUB, Markdown, HTML, CSV and basic DOCX and PDF on its own. Installing LibreOffice, Pandoc or the PDF engine from Settings raises the fidelity for Office, PDF and HEIC files. You can remove them again at any time.

How do I uninstall it?

Use Windows Settings, then Apps. Or open Pomelo's own Settings and choose Advanced. Both remove only what Pomelo installed.

Does it handle scanned PDFs?

Not yet. Without OCR they fail with a clear message, and OCR is planned.
